In 1961, Everett E. Lewis and Leonard Greenwald founded the firm of Abramson, Lewis & Greenwald. Among the firm’s first union clients were the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU) and the International Union of Electrical Workers (IUE). Through hard fought battles in the 1960's and 70's – including strikes, lockouts, and the resulting litigation – our firm assisted the IUE and the ILGWU in substantially improving the working conditions, wages and benefits of their members. Although the name of the firm has changed a number of times over its 50 year history, our objective has always remained the same – to advocate on behalf of unions, their members and other workers who do not yet have the benefit of union representation. In recent years we have expanded our practice to include employment discrimination and wage and hour litigation, but we have always maintained a strong connection to our roots. Indeed, our offices are still located in the Garment District, near the work sites of our former ILGWU clients. |
